What the vig is

Books price both sides so their implied probabilities add up to more than 100%. The extra is their margin, often called the vig or juice. At −110 / −110 it's about 4.5%.

How fair odds are found

Take each side's implied probability and scale both so they add to exactly 100%. That's each side's fair chance; turn it back into odds for the fair price.

Using fair odds

Sharp books like Pinnacle carry small margins, so their no-vig price is the best estimate of the true chance. When another book pays more than that fair price, the bet has positive expected value. LineScout's Prices card does this for every game.
